League leaders Bristol City were the visitors to Priestfield Stadium two days after Gillingham had won 2-1 at Colchester United and they proceeded to give the Gills a footballing lesson.
Coming a week after their first League away win of the season at Doncaster Rovers, Gillingham had the chance to progress further up the League Table with a home game against Chesterfield.
Centre back John Egan scored the all important goal as Gillingham progressed to the area final of the JPT for the first time in their history.
Gillingham won their first League game since the 16th September in a five goal thriller against fellow strugglers Leyton Orient.
