Gillingham’s defensive strengthening this summer continued today with the signing of Tottenham left back Connor Ogilvie on a six-month loan deal.
The 21-year-old, who has yet to make an appearance for the Spurs first-team, was previously on loan at Stevenage, where his performances earned him a solid reputation.
Now Gills’ bosses Adrian Pennock and Peter Taylor have swooped to secure the Spurs academy product on a six-month loan deal, bolstering their back line and offering valuable options on the left in the process.
Ogilvie tweeted his delight in not only signing on loan for the Gills, but also securing a new two-year contract with his parent club, saying he “can’t wait to get going”.

Ogilvie’s arrival provides stern competition for the starting left back spot with Bradley Garmston, but Pennock may use Ogilvie’s arrival to push the fleet-footed Garmston into a more advanced role wide on the left.
On paper, it looks a shrewd acquisition as the club embarks on its pre-season campaign.
