Gillingham’s search for a new manager kicked up a gear this week with the news that the club had approached Mansfield Town for permission to approach their controversial manager, Steve Evans.
That permission was denied by The Stags, but word is the club will return with a second approach as Paul Scally seems to have targeted the former Leeds, Rotherham and Boston manager as potentially the next man to lead the club forward.
The link with Evans has split Gills fans down the middle, with some taking the pragmatic view that Evans has the sort of track record the club desperately needs, while others have strongly declared their disgust at the possibility, with some even declaring they would end their support of the club until the end of an Evans tenure.
On this week’s edition of The Gills365 Pubcast Gills fans Reece Heard, James Hawkins and Kyle Pont discuss the current debate around the managerial position and look ahead to the weekend’s televised clash with Portsmouth at Priestfield.
