Promising young winger Elliott List and influential centre-half Gabriel Zakuani have committed their immediate futures to Gillingham after signing new contracts with the club.

List was used sparingly last season, but became more of a factor towards the end of the campaign, netting his first senior goal at Bristol Rovers during the run-in.

The 21-year-old winger put pen to paper on a new deal and told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted to have committed myself to the club. I enjoy playing here.

“I finished last season very positively and I’m looking forward to 2018/19.”

Zakuani’s re-signing looks like a key piece of off-season business for the Gills, with the experienced 31-year-old defender inking a new contract with the club.

He told the official website: “I’m really pleased to have come to an agreement on a new deal. I played over 40 games last season and I have really enjoyed my time here so it’s great to know I’m staying.

“I can’t wait for my first tackle already!”

The duration of both players’ deals weren’t made public by the club, but their signings represent the first key moves of the summer by Steve Lovell as he looks to secure the important names on his retained list as early as possible.
